Safety first campaign

22 May 2014

As part of its Safety First campaign, Tom Parker has introduced a range of safety conscious lines.

The Protect Air brand of compressed air safety products is being distributed directly to the UK fluid power market by Tom Parker. A key products is the HoseGuard. Suitable for instances where pressure exceeds pre-set safety levels, for example in the event of a hose burst; this small but effective air fuse eliminates the risk of hose whip by automatically activating an internal piston, reducing the supply of compressed air and allowing the airline to equalise back to safe levels.

HoseGuard has an integrated bleed hole; which allows a small volume of air to keep flowing through the line, meaning that once the break has been repaired and normal pressure is resumed the HoseGuard simply resets itself, which minimises downtime.

Another product that is easy to fit into any line is the ‘ToolReg’, an independent piston regulator, which when mounted onto any pneumatic tool both regulates and maintains pressure during operation and disconnection. These products, along with the entire Protect Air safety range are said to offer benefits including:

  • Increased lifecycle of tools and equipment

  • Minimised air wastage, saving energy and reducing costs

  • Guaranteed compliance with compressed air legal safety standards

  • Prevention of serious accidents caused by over-pressure

  • Elimination of downtime due to repairs and maintenance

  • Ease of installation and use

  • Reliable and tamperproof for maximum protection

Sales manager, Sebastian Cole, says: "The sad thing is that often it takes an accident to make people stop and take notice. Our safety focussed ranges are carefully selected to make sure they easily, quickly and cost effectively enable companies to safeguard their employees, guard against down time and maintain the life of their equipment.
