Gate safety training

The two-day training scheme was launched at the end of 2013 by the DHF Powered Gate Group, in its drive to increase safety levels in the sector.

The training course is aimed at all those responsible for the safety of automatically controlled powered gates including installers, inspectors and those responsible for gate maintenance.

During each course, delegates complete a number of modules - covering all aspects of gate safety from initial risk assessment through to force testing - in order to obtain their coveted DHF gate safety diplomas. Topics covered include law and regulations, use of standards, risk assessment, testing and inspection, documentation, repair and maintenance.

It is compulsory for all DHF Powered Gate Group to put their personnel through the training scheme. It allows member companies to use the DHF Safety Assured mark which is their customer assurance that specifiers and purchasers have made a responsible and safe choice when choosing and maintaining powered gates.

The diploma course is led by Nick Perkins, DHF training officer. He said: "Raising standards of safety in the industry continues to be the driving force of the federation.

"Thorough and comprehensive training for all those responsible for powered gate safety will underpin our commitment to significantly raising levels of powered gate safety."

The DHF gate safety diploma training scheme is open to all DHF members and to non-member individuals responsible for installation, assessment and inspection of powered gates.
