Dust extractors
27 February 2015
The latest range of L class dust extractors from Makita exceed the performance required by health and safety standards for wet and dry cleaning applications as well as the legal dust extraction requirements when working with non-hazardous materials.

These extractors have a new motor housing design with a flat top and integrated carry handle and accessory storage while the filters are housed above the tank line to maximise the holding capacity. Stainless steel tanks are fitted to the 20 and 30L models whilst the 25L unit has a moulded ABS tank which reduces weight to just 7kg.
Products in the new Makita extractor range feature washable PET cartridge filters to protect the suction turbine for fine dust and debris. The air flow can be driven through the filter by pushing the pipe valve which cleans the filter in seconds. The fleece filter bag allows moist debris to be picked up without damaging the filter bag.
Powered by 1000watt motors the VC2012L and the VC3011L models feature a power take off facility which can be activated by the power tool when coupled. As the tool is switched on it automatically starts the extraction unit. All models have a maximum airflow of 3.6m³/minute and a maximum sealed suction rating of 21.0kPa. The 3.5m suction hose connects to an aluminium extension piece which couples to either of the three nozzles supplied including a floor nozzle with rubber lip and brushes. The hose is carried in a convenient strap fixing on the side of the unit and all are fitted with castor wheels which makes the machines stable in use and convenient to pull into location.
New dust extraction guards introduced by Makita to fit all current 5in angle grinders enhance extraction performance. The new 196845-3 is a neat aluminium extraction guard that encloses the wheel and has a robust extractor port to connect to the new dust extraction units. A clearview panel on the side shows the wheel at work. The casing is opened without tools by a simple turn-screw at the top. The grip handle can be fitted in three alternative positions and three depth levels are accurately marked on the casing. A 230mm guard is also available.
