Driving home the safety message
12 May 2015
Activated by an internally-mounted radar, vehicle activated signs (VAS) provide a dynamic way to remind motorists of the need for extra caution.

With an estimated 5000+ accidents every year involving transport on large industrial and workplace sites, the HSE has recommended the introduction of suitable speed limits on large industrial and workplace sites to limit the possibility and severity of accidents. Vehicle-activated signs are an effective, high visibility solution to encourage and promote good driving.
Large commercial sites, industrial and research parks and warehousing and logistics sites all pose their own particular risks. If you’re responsible for any of these types of premises, or anywhere else that vehicles are moving around, you have a legal duty to ensure the health and safety of not only your employees but to also protect the public in facilities open for general access.
Available in a range of sizes and shapes, Messagemaker VAS signs are designed to have more of an impact than static signs. Maximum speed warnings or symbols can be combined with personalised messages, including ‘SLOW DOWN’, thank you or a smiley face to reward responsible driving.
Flashing yellow warning indictors, speed cameras, turn ahead and other special layouts are available on request. The unit’s in-built programming functionality allows speed limits to be set to activate as required, for added flexibility.
The Messagemaker VAS range has a vandal resistant all-weather lockable outer case. Slimline LED technology allows for mounting on power/lighting columns, with the option of a solar powered unit for those looking for an environmentally friendly or remote solution.
Offered as standard as a 300mm diameter roundel, Messagemaker speed signs can also be supplied in a range of additional sizes up to 900mm in diameter.
