Flexible impact protection
04 June 2015
Arco says that its new range of comfortable and flexible impact protection gloves is enabling companies to stay ahead of PPE legislation and on top of costs.

The Arco Impact Mechanics Glove and the special Arco Impact liner offer a high degree of impact protection in a wide range of working environments.
Hands and fingers are the second most likely place for workplace injuries. In 2010/11, there were 18,616 such injuries, with each non-fatal injury causing an average 7.5 days’ absence from work. Such injuries, and their associated costs, can be avoided if staff wear appropriate hand protection. Often people need several pairs of gloves to provide varying levels of protection depending on their working requirements. Finding the right balance of protection, comfort and dexterity can be difficult and expensive.
A new Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standard will require protective gloves to be tested for impact protection and display a score for the test.
Arco’s new range is designed to enable employers to keep their employees safe, stay ahead of legislation and manage the cost of hand impact protection. Both gloves in the range offer excellent impact protection and can be used in a wide range of applications from heavy engineering to general industrial use. They are also reported to be comfortable and dexterous.
The Impact Liner allows existing tested gloves to be worn, but with improved protection. The liner sits under virtually any other glove and, because it is lightweight, it maintains dexterity. Its Poron XRD impact pads absorb impact energy, while the light cotton fabric with Microban antimicrobial protection allows skin to breathe. It comes in sizes 8,9,10 and 11.
The Arco Impact Mechanics Glove combines rubberised impact protection for the back of the hand with level 5 cut protection. Handling is kept lightweight and secure with a Nitrile coating, and comfort and dexterity is assured with a seamless knit. It is approved to BS EN 388:2003 and comes in sizes 7, 8, 9 and 10.
