Industrial equipment trends & innovations showcased at UK’s leading packaging event
20 February 2017
Companies are increasingly looking for ways to reduce costs, increase efficiency and improve productivity. For those looking to update their packaging, or packaging plant and equipment, that means a trip to Empack 2017, which returns to NEC Birmingham on 1 & 2 March.

The two-day event, which is co-located with Packaging Innovations (Inc. Ecopack and Contract Pack) and Label&Print 2017, features over 350 exhibitors plus 30 hours of practical and educational content, across five theatres. Delivered by leading brands including, Amazon, Innocent Drinks, Jaguar Land Rover and Mondelēz International, the talks will include some highly practical sessions. For instance, Theodoros Striftompolas, International Packaging Engineer at Jaguar Land Rover, will present ‘High performance packaging behind the high performance cars’. He will detail how the JLR International Packaging team oversees the design, development and management of the packaging of parts, which are to be fitted in the firm’s international plants, and the challenges and opportunities that arise during this process.
To ensure that the majority of the population can use a product or service, organisations must consider the principles of Inclusive Design. Mike Bradley, Senior Research Associate at Cambridge University, will discuss the opportunities and challenges of applying these principles in automotive product development. This will be illustrated with the original Ford Focus case study.
In addition to educational content, the show will host its largest exhibitor base to date. There will be over 350 leading international suppliers, many of whom will be using the event to demonstrate the latest packaging technologies and machinery to the UK market. This includes the likes of Advanced Dynamics, Hewlett Packard, Herma UK, EPSON, EPAL, Norpak, Paramount Packaging and Croxons.
Also on the show floor will be several new features including, The Ideas Factory, which will enable visitors to gain fresh ideas and inspiration by learning from leading experts from non-packaging based companies such as British Gas. This will sit alongside established favourites, such as The Great Innovation Debate and The BIG Print Debate.
