Medium voltage cable for long-travel crane installations
18 October 2017
igus has developed a new chainflex medium voltage cable, called CFCRANE.PUR, suitable for very long travels of up to 1000m, such as those found in crane installations. Motor cables of this series are highly flexible, flame retardant, and oil and UV resistant. As a retrofit solution or for special projects, they are now available to order from stock.

“In the crane and material handling sectors, installations are getting increasingly larger and working at ever-higher dynamics and duty cycles,” says Justin Leonard, the-chain director, igus. For projects of this kind, igus has developed the CFCRANE.PUR series of chainflex cables to complement its low-abrasion and low-noise roller energy chains.
Rated for voltages of 6/10 kV, the cables are suitable for use in both indoor and outdoor applications, due to the special conductor structure and combination of the materials used. In addition, the CFCRANE.PUR series is up to 20% smaller in diameter in comparison to conventional motor cables, with a bending radius of 10xd.
