Stops trespassing

06 June 2017

Wieland Electric’s SLC series of safety light curtains has been designed to protect operators from dangerous areas or as access control against unauthorised trespassing.

Connection is simple and achieved via standard M12 connection technology, while fast installation and removal of the guards on the machine is achievable due to system configuration being carried out in the control cabinet.

When using multiple systems, mutual interference is avoided by using the adjustable range reduction feature, while the integrated double scan technology eliminates the risk of unnecessary shutdown even in harsh environments. Planning of safeguards is simplified and there is less type diversity because every SLC from 0 m to the maximum range can be utilised. Setting of parameters is done without PC or DIP switch and is carried out through simple wiring in the control cabinet. The 3-zone alignment indicator reduces assembly time and simplifies set up. The SLC Series has a robust aluminium IP67 rated, rigid housing that aids adjustment and helps to ensure reliable operation, with clear diagnostic and status messages in the 7 segment display to ensure shorter downtimes.

Cable lengths up to 100 m with unshielded connection cables ensure greater operational flexibility and cost reduction even under difficult EMC conditions. The SLC series also offers simplified planning of safeguards and less type diversity because very SLC safety light curtain from 0 m to the maximum range can be implemented

Wieland will be expanding their comprehensive Lightcurtain SLC & Light Barrier SLD range offering even further. The NEW “Professional range “ addition of Light Curtains & Light Beams are to be released  Spring 2017 and will include greater solutions for Fixed & floating blanking as well as integrated muting capabilities, along with device chaining capabilities thus reducing cabling costs even further. Additional scan modes “Maxi Scan” will be added to the double scan technology already available perfect to control robustness i.e. loose shavings, material flying around. Single Beam units are also being added to the already comprehensive Light beam range SLD.
