Plug and play precision for Clayden with new Champion ELITE compressed air station
07 May 2026
CLAYDEN PRECISION Engineering is benefitting from a quick-install Champion ELITE FM11 compressed air station to power its recent CNC milling facility expansion, without downtime.

The family-based business, based in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire manufacturers bespoke hydraulic fittings and components for Formula 1 cars. With production demand increasing rapidly, Clayden took on a second industrial unit and needed a compact and highly-reliable compressor that could meet the additional demand for air and be installed quickly.
Space was at a premium, so the resulting installation, specified and installed by Ingersoll Rand distributor, Quality Assured Industrial Services delivers a complete plug and play compressed air station that has a footprint up to 30% smaller than other units.
Conventional compressed air systems require separate downstream equipment that needs to be specified and installed. In contrast, the Champion ELITE series includes all components in a single, easily integrated unit.
Production downtime was also a key concern, and it was important that the new compressed air station was operational as soon as possible. "Installing the Champion ELITE 11 kW unit saves at least half a day of time. As a complete, packaged unit the 10-bar rotary screw compressor is mounted onto a 270-litre horizontal tank. It includes a refrigerated dryer, filtration pack, automatic condensate drain, and an oil/water separator making commissioning much easier," explained Philip Hourican, area sales manager at Quality Assured Industrial Services.
"And it's not just the time savings during installation. Intelligent features like the removable panels, the filter bypass, the oil/water separator and automatic drains mean that we spend less time on site during routine servicing, saving both cost and production downtime for Clayden."
Lewis Clayden, operations manager at Clayden added, "We've been using the Champion FM06 compressor at our original facility for a number of years now and it has never let us down". "So, when we purchased our new production machinery, requiring extra-long compressed air pipework runs, we needed a higher capacity machine, that would still deliver the reliability we have come to rely on.
"The Champion ELITE FM11 compressor has been ideal for our needs. It is very compact, meaning we could install it under the stairs, saving valuable floorspace. And with the five-year warranty available as standard, we also have complete peace of mind."
The full package
Included in the full plug and play package is the CHR Series refrigerated dryer, with a user-friendly electronic controller and its own separate power supply. The oil/water separator features multi-stage separation and ensures easy disposal of condensate to comply with waste regulations.
The CHF filter package includes a cyclonic separator for water and liquid oil removal. It is available with either a Grade M filter for particulates to 0.1 microns and oil aerosol to 0.03 mg/m2 or a Grade S filter 0.1 microns and oil aerosol to 0.03 mg/m2.
Finally, the robust condensate drain is designed for long life in harsh applications, featuring stainless steel moving parts for extended life and direct acting valve construction.
The new C-Pro-2 integrated electronic controller helps users manage important compressor parameters easily, including pressure, flow rates and running temperatures to name a few.
