When the company needed to upgrade the compressed air system in its Great Yarmouth workshop, Pirtek Norwich recommended a plastic John Guest Push-fit System.

This comprises black push-in fittings and blue pipe. Pushing a pipe into a fitting produces a leakproof connection which is ready for use.

The pipe is easily cut to length using pipe cutters. Lightweight components contribute to easy installation. The system can be extended when required and it is easy for additional take off points to be retrofitted.

The system comprises: 200m of 22mm ring main, with 15mm pipe for drops to 10 take off points. Even though the system travels over a fairly long distance, the smooth bore of the pipe and minimum pressure drop within the fittings means that the bore size can be relatively small allowing pipework to be hidden under a shelf.

Ten take off points comprise Water Trap Tees, a length of blue 15mm pipe and a Wing Back Elbow.

The Water Trap Tee, has a special inside arrangement that means air can pass to the take off point with minimum headloss without allowing moisture to follow.Water stays in the line to be drawn off at a suitable spot.

Pirtek is a nominated supplier of the John Guest Compressed Air System.
