Gentle way to transmit high torque
10 April 2019
SGF offers a range of solutions for transmitting torque in a machine-friendly way.

Its SGFlex couplings series, for example, feature elastic elements with Tenpu fibre technology. Due to the elasticity, radial, axial and angular misalignments of rotating parts can be compensated and vibrations or load peaks minimised. This is said to reduce wear in the drive train and extend the expected service life, a factor that is important for replacement couplings in existing systems.
Examples of flexible couplings are the disc couplings SGFlex-3F and the flexible drive shafts SGFlex-3FD-Connect. The drive shafts are suitable for nominal torques to 3200Nm, and can also be operated at a deflection angle of zero degrees. Torque is transmitted almost exclusively via the vulcanised-in fibre packages, which results in high power density, elasticity and excellent resistance.
The flexible link coupling Tenbex-Eco for rated torques 40,000Nm also benefits from the advantages of disc coupling technology. Its special coupling design allows links to be bolted in different ways. In addition, plates with various properties are available to adapt the coupling to the specific application.
