LEEA shines a light on the essential yet often overlooked Lifting Industry
14 July 2025
THE LIFTING Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) launched its 'Shining a light on the Industry that holds the world up' campaign during GLAD2025 to spotlight an industry that is essential, yet often overlooked.

Through this initiative, hosted on a special new microsite: leealiftingfutures.com, LEEA is working to raise awareness, attract fresh talent and support the entire industry in building a stronger, more sustainable future. leealiftingfutures.com is an evolving website, which will be continually updated and LEEA encourages members to contact the Association to be featured in the case studies.
For businesses looking to attract apprentices, upskill their current workforce or reach new talent with transferable skills, the site offers a gateway to strategies, tools and support. From safety-critical recruitment campaigns to real-world case studies, LEEA provides everything needed to engage the next generation of lifting professionals, and to ensure businesses continue to operate safely, competently and compliantly.
For individuals looking for a career that matters, the site shows how the Lifting Industry offers a wide range of exciting opportunities – from operators and inspection to engineering, logistics and safety management. Whether starting out, changing direction or bringing experience from another industry (such as construction, defence or manufacturing), there’s a place in lifting. This site introduces the careers, training (including LEEA’s Foundation Certificate, which is aimed at a beginner’s level), and stories behind the lifting sector – a hidden but vital industry that supports everything from infrastructure and energy to transport and global trade.
"Behind every skyline, shipment and structure is a lifting professional - powering progress, protecting lives and building the future," said Ross Moloney, CEO of LEEA.
"For too long, lifting has been a hidden career path - despite offering rewarding, hands-on roles that make a real impact on safety, progress and global infrastructure. The Shining a light on the Industry that holds the world up campaign is our response. It’s time to champion the people behind the lifts - and show the world why lifting matters."
