Striving for top class energy savings
30 November 2018
With history that goes back over seven centuries to 1413, the oldest university in Scotland offers four faculties, that serve almost 8000 students and is fully committed to achieving the highest standards.

Grundfos Pumps has been working closely with some of the university's estate specialists, who play a key role in ensuring that all M&E services are efficiently delivered, to ensure that pumps and pump systems deliver maximum efficiencies.
The Grundfos and onsite team have achieved some impressive savings. For example, an upgraded installation at one site alone will save 206,978kWh, which is equal to £22,768 p.a. Savings of this nature are achievable, when the entire life cycle cost relating to a pump or pumping system is looked at; the purchase price is a very small part of the equation. What this means, says Grundfos, is that, 85% of the total life cycle cost of any pump system is attributable to the energy that is required to run the pumps, meaning that this is a key area on which to focus.
