AMRs from KNAPP supply workstations at Tucker
04 February 2020
Logistics automation provider, KNAPP, has supplied a fleet of three Open Shuttle AMRs to fastenings specialist, Tucker, in Germany. The self-driving, self-learning mobile robots supply decentralised workstations with materials from an automated small parts store.

The Open Shuttles manoeuvre safely through the facility in Linden without optical or physical aids – navigating autonomously, reacting dynamically to obstacles and interacting safely with humans. The track-free design of the Open Shuttle system allows rapid installation and seamless integration into existing environments, as well as simple updates to warehouse layouts as needed.
The vehicles also take care of energy management by docking at charging stations when required. The AMRs are controlled centrally through KNAPP’s fleet management system, with ‘swarm intelligence’ software allowing them to communicate with each other and distribute tasks according to their workload.
With versions for handling plastic totes, cardboard trays and pallet loads, Open Shuttle AMRs from KNAPP are suitable for a whole host of material handling applications.
