"Unprecedented interest" in Southern Manufacturing and Electronics 2025
11 October 2024
Taking place at Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre from 4-6 February, Southern Manufacturing and Electronics 2025 will showcase a comprehensive range of engineering and manufacturing technology and is expected to attract more than 9,000 visitors

BRITISH AND Irish companies, as well as a large number from overseas, have shown unprecedented interest in participating in the next Southern Manufacturing and Electronics exhibition, so much so that the 2025 event will be the biggest in its 28-year history. The new owners, Easyfairs, say that stand bookings are expected to exceed 500 for the first time.
Generating exceptional interest
To be held at the Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre from 4-6 February, it will be a major showcase of engineering and manufacturing technology, attracting well in excess of 9,000 visitors from the UK, Europe and further afield, if past events are anything to go by.
As usual, stands will be split about equally between companies operating in mechanical engineering and others in the electrical / electronic sector. The former will include suppliers of machine tools, tooling, workholding, castings, plastic injection and rubber mouldings, and subcontract manufacturing services spanning rotational and prismatic machining, sheet metalworking and 3D printing. On the electronics side, PCB design, box build services, cables, connectors and a host of other devices and components will be presented. Likewise there will be mechatronics assemblies, electro-mechanical components and systems, controls, displays, HMIs, data acquisition systems, sensors, drives and encoders.
A comprehensive presentation
Testing, inspection and measurement serving all industry sectors will be in evidence throughout, as will production planning systems, engineering and business software, materials and consumables. Additional products and services will encompass oil and coolant, waste recycling, environmental control equipment, packaging and storage, labelling, hand tools, adhesives, and diverse services from freighting to financial consultancy. Having such a variety of exhibitors in the same place makes the event ideal for anyone involved in design, manufacture, procurement, training or management to address multiple purchasing requirements efficiently, particularly as Technology Trails grouping firms with expertise in specific areas will help to guide visitors around the stands.
Enhanced navigation
It will be business as usual at the show, as the new organisers see no reason to change its successful format, which is underpinned by international firms, SMEs and small-scale companies participating on an equal footing. People will, however, notice improvements to the user experience. There will be new Smart Badge technology for visitors featuring an embedded NFC chip that may be slid over an exhibitor’s unique EasyGo badge reader. The person will then receive an email containing a list of all stands they have visited and details of what they saw. Without any effort, the exhibitor will have a record of who has called by to see them, making life easier for them too.
Throughout the three days, visitors will be able to take advantage of an extensive programme of free technical seminars covering a wide range of topics. They will provide valuable learning opportunities, with a particular focus on the technical, managerial and environmental issues facing manufacturers today. A regular, complimentary bus service runs between Farnborough’s two railway stations and the showground, which is equally easy to access by road. There is no charge for car parking either.
