Backpack sprayers are a useful tool for
controlling small scale fires or those
occurring in confined spaces. BETE is
a leading supplier of backpack
sprayers and following successful
trials in early 2006, Essex County Fire
and Rescue Service (ECFRS), invested
in 150 flexible backpack sprayers.
Sprayers consist of a lightweight, thermo-welded flexible tank, a manually operated pump and a soft bag design which provides comfort and manoeuvrability in confined spaces, as well as convenient storage.
The non-pressurised backpack delivers a throw range equivalent to that of a pressurised vessel (a 3m spray and up to a 12m jet). However, as a non-pressurised unit it does not require the costly equipment checks required on pressurised vessels.
