Around 200,000 people, or one in every 145 working adults, now holds a NEBOSH qualification in Britain.

Teresa Budworth, CE of NEBOSH, believes those who hold health, safety and environmental qualifications make a huge difference to Britain's workplaces.

"We mustn't under-estimate the contribution these people make to the world of work. Of course, it's difficult to know just how many needless deaths, injuries or disastrous incidents those who are qualified in health, safety and environment actually prevent, or the number of prosecutions or legal cases they help employers avoid, but in my mind they're unsung heroes." NEBOSH qualifications range from an introductory Health and Safety at Work qualification to professional level diplomas.
