TLM Laser, as distributor in the UK
and Ireland for Univet of Italy, has
introduced Sylex, a new material
developed by the Research &
Development department of Univet
that is said to afford very high
protection levels for its safety eyewear.
Its special chemical formulation enables it to reach protection levels according to EN207:2009: 190-315 D LB8 + IR LB5, 315-1400 D LB6 + IRM LB7, 1400-11000 DI LB4.
The company says such protection levels are usually achieved with the addition of metal inside the frame; Univet products with Sylex achieve them due to the chemical structure of the material, which offers a good resistance to a direct hit of the laser. Protection is combined with light weight so that the user can wear the spectacles in comfort for complete shifts.
