The Arbitration Court of Moscow, Russia, recently ruled in favour of DuPont in a trademark infringement case involving the fire resistant fibre, Nomex. The case sends a warning to counterfeiters and demonstrates to wearers of the product DuPonts measures to ensure products containing Nomex fibre conform to the regulations and are of the highest quality.

The Arbitration Court of Moscow, Russia, recently ruled in favour of DuPont in a trademark infringement case involving the fire resistant fibre, Nomex. The case sends a warning to counterfeiters and demonstrates to wearers of the product DuPont's measures to ensure products containing Nomex fibre conform to the regulations and are of the highest quality.

A garment manufacturer, which is part of the DuPont value chain, became suspicious of a fabric labelled as Nomex. Detailed tests revealed the fabric was a sophist icated modifi - cation of simple fire retardant cotton.

The modification had been carried out in an attempt to emulate the lightweight qualities of Nomex.
