These criteria were fulfilled by a pair of 'intelligent' fans supplied by Air Control Industries.
The fans, ACI's QB EC units, were supplied with an electronic controller and pressure sensor installed inside the dome. This fan and control package ensured the dome was always inflated to the correct pressure to retain shape and stability without material being over stressed.
The ACI system compensates for natural air leaks and adjusts pressure according to changing ambient temperatures.
This gives on-demand operation only from near silent fans.
