Traps at a major pharmaceutical
facility in Australia, steam generation
costs dropped by more than 25%.
Condensate return efficiency also increased from 60 to 92% over the period of the installation, equating to a boiler feed make up water reduction of 8000L/day.
Thermal Energy International says these improvements were a direct result of the energy reduction impact brought about by the installation of GEM Traps. Actual savings indicate a payback period of less than 20 months. At some other pharmaceutical facilities, GEM Traps have been installed on desiccant dehumidifier regeneration air heater batteries, as well as throughout the plant.
Maintenance costs decrease due to the non-requirement of spare parts or traps, man hours too are reduced and a further benefit reported by an engineering manager was an increase in plant uptime.
