Profiling machine

24 February 2014

Kerf Developments has extended its range of plasma and oxy fuel cutting machines with the launch of the CombiCut profiling machine.

Capable of piercing and cutting material from 1 to 150mm thickness, the gantry type CombiCut, with an independent cutting table, is a high quality CNC cutting machine that can eliminate the need for two machines with its gas and plasma cutting capabilities.

It can be supplied with single or multiple cutting torches with the option of electronic ignition and automatic torch height control. The CombiCut is available in three designations: CombiCut 2000, 2500 and the 3000, each model specifying the rail span and working envelope of the 2, 2.5 and 3m machines. Kerf builds its machines to the specification of the user, so these dimensions can be extended, as can the capabilities of the machine.

CombiCut has a control and drive system that uses an industrial grade PC with touch screen display that provides an automatic diagnostic capability with a machine maintenance module.

With regard to reliability, the CombiCut has a work support structure that is isolated from the precision rail system. Installed at an elevated position, this ensures the rack and pinion and drive systems are fully protected from the cutting process to ensure maintenance is kept to a minimum.

Craig Walsh, sales director at Kerf Developments, says: "There will always be situations where Kerf do not have an ideal match on machine size and/or capability. To address this, we have developed a mid–range level of machines for oxy-fuel and plasma cutting. The CombiCut is available in a range widths and lengths to meet customers’ requirements, as can be the cutting specification."

"We believe that this new product range fills the void between quality approved second hand equipment and our premium brand RUR and RUM high definition plasma cutting machine tools.”
