Reassurance for lone workers
25 February 2014
The Loner SMD from Castle Group has been developed to address the threat faced by people who work alone or unsupervised.

Simon Bull, MD, said: "We are really proud to be introducing this new product to the market and I believe it will really make a difference to those lone workers who face increased risks just by the fact they are working on their own. This system can almost guarantee alerts even when you can’t get a signal on your mobile phone.”
The key product in the range is the Loner SMD, which is a personally worn device that contains various personal protection features including a silent or audible panic alarm, a fall detector and a motion detector for man-down alerts. The system will also alert when its user logs on or off the system, all which can be tracked on a simple internet portal.
In the event of an alert, the user can be pin-pointed via a map-based window on the web portal, which will give details of the user and of the nature of the alert.
Operating over multiple mobile phone networks and with a high-power aerial, this product can send alerts even in areas of very poor mobile phone signal – much in the same way you can always call 999. Combined with high precision GPS, the loner SMD can optionally be used as a tracking device if this is of benefit to the organisation.
