Four alarms for lone workers

15 July 2014

Already established in North America, the Loner Safety Monitoring Device is being introduced into the UK market by Castle Group.

The system is customisable to accommodate any organisational structure. The worker clips the device onto their waist and powers the device on. As soon as this happens the operator is safeguarded by four main alarms:

  • Emergency Alarm - activated by pulling a cleverly designed latch avoiding accidental false alarms
  • Silent Alarm - designed for hostile situations, a vibrating acknowledgement allows the operator to be assured help has been called for without alerting anyone in the surrounding area
  • Man-down Alarm - the Loner SMD can distinguish falls from other activities that can be expected in some manual job roles
  • No-motion Alarm - this sends a distress alarm when the operator hasn't moved for the pre-set timeframe.
