Humidity control: Preventing problems in the pump room
25 November 2015
A desiccant dehumidification system from Humidity Solutions is preventing formation of condensate on cold water pipes in a 550m3 pump and compressor room. As well as avoiding corrosion and regular re-painting of pipes, the enhanced humidity control prevents puddles on the floor and deterioration of electrical equipment.

The solution selected by Humidity Solutions comprises a Fisair DFRB Series dehumidifier which incorporates a silica gel desiccant rotor to remove moisture from the air. In maintaining low humidity, the system ensures the air surrounding the cold (8°C) pipes does not fall below the dew point.
