Roadshow success

17 March 2016

GRAS Sound & Vibration UK, manufacturer of high performance measurement microphones for aerospace, automotive, environmental and electroacoustic applications, attracted a large number of students to its recent University roadshows.

The events, which took place at Salford and Cambridge Universities, consisted of a 2h interactive seminar and presentation by Per Rasmussen, technical director at GRAS in Denmark, and son of Gunnar Rasmussen, developer of the first reproducible one inch condenser microphone.

GRAS UK has achieved preferred supplier status with many of the country’s universities which use the advanced measurement microphones for research projects being run in conjunction with major automotive and aerospace manufacturers.

Paul Rubens, GRAS UK’s MD, comments: “Not only was this a chance for university students studying acoustics to see GRAS microphones in operation, it was also a chance for them to speak to our team of industry experts, who were present at each location.

“It was very much an educational experience rather than sales pitch that we hope helped students understand how GRAS microphones work for specific applications, and the research, development and engineering that goes into the production of them.

He adds: “The Q&A proved particularly popular, with students able to ask Per Rasmussen questions about problems they were having with current projects.”
