Accident survivor to speak at FLTA Safety Conference

19 April 2016

Lisa Ramos, who lost her leg in a fork lift accident, will open this year’s Fork Lift Truck Association’s National Fork Truck Safety Conference (Wednesday 29th June 2016), informing delegates of the severe, life-changing consequences of forklift accidents – for both victims and their families.

In 2006, Ramos was an administrator, working for a logistics firm. While crossing the warehouse one day, she was reversed into by a 2.5t forklift. Her left leg was crushed and required amputation above the knee.

FLTA chief executive, Peter Harvey, said: “We so often talk about shocking facts and figures, but to hear a first-hand account of the long-term pain and suffering a single forklift accident can cause really puts the importance of forklift safety – and the value of the knowledge imparted at this event – into perspective.”

The conference welcomes hundreds of managers from companies of all sizes and across all sectors. Delegates enjoy a highly-informative and engaging programme, which includes talks by industry professionals and guest speakers.

Crucially, the event features presentations by companies who have demonstrably improved safety on their sites. Each will describe the problems they faced and the real-world solutions they implemented, often in situations where both operating space and budgets were extremely tight. Feedback consistently shows that these talks – and the ensuing Q & A session – are the delegates’ favourites.

The FLTA Safety Conference takes place at the Heart of England Conference and Events Centre near Coventry.
