FLTA seeks 'Safety Champion'
05 July 2017
The Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) is on the lookout for its next Safety Champion and, thanks to support from Briggs Equipment UK, the winner will walk away with the title, a trophy and a £250 prize.

Now in its third year, the Award recognises and rewards individuals committed to making sites safer for their colleagues and visitors. FLTA chief executive, Peter Harvey, MBE explains: “These men and women often wear many hats in their day-to-day job. Indeed, fork lift operations is sometimes not even directly part of their job function.
“Yet, something clicks in them. Perhaps it was seeing a near miss or maybe reading about an accident. Regardless of what drives them, they have a vision of how things should be – and the dedication to make it happen.
“This Award recognises the individual driving positive change – rather than the company – although we do have an Award for that, too.”
The winner, who will be announced in November, will be presented with a cheque for £250, courtesy of Briggs Equipment UK.
Anyone who has championed fork lift truck safety on site can enter; this includes operators, pedestrians and the managers overseeing them. You can enter a colleague, a customer or even yourself, but entries must be in no later than 30th September 2017.
The FLTA needs as much information as you can give about the changes made and how they came to be. Supporting videos and photographs are helpful in illustrating this. Entering takes minutes and can be completed online: www.fork-truck.org.uk
