New door in port
04 August 2016
Working with Port of Tyne, Hart Door Systems’ Speedor Storms, the Speedor variant with wind resistance to Class 5, that is in excess of 90 mph, have been installed on a mobile hopper system which is a key part of the port’s ship unloading procedure.
Materials such as wood pellets are unloaded into hoppers which draw alongside ships. Fully loaded the hoppers then move to another part of the port and unload directly into lorries which drive into the hopper for the purpose.
Hart’s Nick Hart says the process generated dust which had to be controlled as a residential area was close-by: “The hoppers came with rigid doors which blew out and were clearly not fit-for-purpose. We were invited to resolve the issue and by installing Speedor Storms, with their automatic action and exceptional wind resistance, we have achieved a very satisfactory solution.”
