Oil consumption cut by 6000 to 7000 litres per year.
15 May 2018
Rotalube Systems reports that it has fitted the largest applicator ever manufactured, to suit a 12 inch pitch chain on a ThyssenKrupp Circular Re-claimer and has reduces oil consumption by 6000 to 7000 litres per year.

The Re-Claimer had a centralised lubrication system that automatically dripped oil onto the chain at pre-determined times via four nozzles. The system was fitted in 1999 and over lubricated the chain causing contamination which was abrasive to the chain.
A Rotalube system was fitted in 2018 and – to date – the new system operating times have been reducing equating to a 6000L per year oil saving. Oil consumption is continually being analysed, and it is estimated that the annual oil saving will be about 7000L each year.
Further benefits include: Time saved replacing oil drums, which is estimated at 80h/year, increase in chain life (not quantified yet, but there has been a reduction in the build- up of contamination due to the accurate way in which Rotalube applies oil directly to the pins), and also environmental benefits. Payback was 2.5 months.
