Wide range of welding fume extraction solutions

30 January 2020

Engweld's welding fume extraction solutions include Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV), compliant with the new regulations that follow the reclassification of mild steel welding fume as a human carcinogen.

All businesses undertaking welding activities must now ensure that effective engineering controls are provided and used correctly to control welding fumes. All impacted organisations and individuals are now required to use Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) for welding activities indoors, and adequate respiratory protective equipment (RPE) for welding outdoors and in the case that LEV is not enough to protect against the residual fumes.

For on torch fume extraction solutions, Engweld recommends the Binzel FES-200, FES-200 W3 and the recently launched FEC Cyclone depending on the material the user is welding with.

When dealing with hazardous fumes and smoke, precision is critical to ensure safety. Binzel Rab MIG Torches + Fume Extraction Units FES200, FES200 W3 and new FEC Cyclone offer efficient fume extraction directly at the source.

These units are designed with good accessibility and manoeuvrability, as well as the RAB GRIP air-cooled MIG torches being lightweight thanks to the innovative ABICOR BINZEL Low-Weight Bikox. This solution guarantees highly efficient fume removal directly at source.

For mobile fume extraction solutions, Engweld recommends the Lincoln Electric Miniflex® which is a high vacuum system designed for the removal and filtration of welding fumes from light-duty welding applications.

The Miniflex® excels in performance and ease of handling. It can be completely disassembled in a matter of minutes for cleaning and maintenance.

Alternatively, Engweld recommends the ESAB Carryvac 2 P150 as a small, lightweight, portable extraction unit designed to be carried to the working area. Connected to a welding torch or to an extraction nozzle, the Carryvac 2 units extract the fumes directly at the source.

The polluted air is captured in a hygienically packed filter. The Carryvac 2 is equipped with an indicator which notifies the user when the filter must be replaced. It is ideal for maintenance welding, low and medium-duty cycle.

Engweld can also offer Bench Mounted options & Fixed Extraction Arm systems. Please visit the website – engweld.co.uk – for more information.
