Air fed welding helmets

Earlier this year, The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) released a safety alert highlighting new scientific evidence from the International Agency for Research on Cancer suggesting that exposure to all welding fumes, including mild steel welding fume can cause lung cancer and kidney cancer. 

Following the findings, The Workplace Health Expert Committee has endorsed the reclassification of mild steel welding fume as a human carcinogen. 

The two recommended stages of dealing with welding fumes are: 

1. Make sure welding fume released is controlled effectively by installing local exhaust ventilation. 
2. Protect the welder from breathing in any outstanding welding fume by issuing an air fed welding mask.
