Nidec Machine Tool launches MVR-Ax

26 July 2022

NIDEC MACHINE Tool Corporation has launched MVR-Ax, a new series of double-column machining centres.

The new series was developed to be easy-to-use and to meet the diverse needs of manufacturing sites which machine large-size components.

The machining centres in the MVR-Ax series are equipped with a main axis that rotates at a standard speed of 6,000 times per minute to machine large-size workpieces such as industrial, construction, semiconductor manufacturing, and power-generating equipment, and with a gear drive main axis (opt.) (4,000rpm, with a maximum torque of 3,430N▪m) for deeper cutting operations.

Combined with the resilient structure of its main unit, which remains completely undamaged from this high torque, the series has sturdy ram main axes that enhance the cutting capability during ram protrusion, while enhancing the performance of the machining of tall components’ lateral sides.

Additionally, a large number of attachments allows the MVR-Ax series to machine objects of various shapes, including narrow sections, multifaceted surfaces, slant planes, and adjustable surfaces. Meanwhile, the individual axes’ fast-forwarding speeds are top-class in the industry, with 30m/min. for the x-axis, 32m/min. for the y-axis, 20m/min. for the z-axis, and 5m/min. for the w-axis. The shortened non-cutting time makes the MVR-Ax series highly productive.

To enhance usability, the MVR-Ax series comes with the NidecNavi operational assistance function as standard. NidecNavi helps the operator make NC programs and perform centring work efficiently and includes a simple collision prevention function to prevent tool-work collision.

Nidec provides support for the MVR-Ax series via DIASCOPE, its unique IoT platform. Meanwhile, the series’ other features include technologies to enhance its environmental performance, an idling stop function for the oil cooler and the hydraulic unit to reduce electricity consumption.
