Real-time engine oil analysis helps AD operators protect assets
03 March 2020
Gas engine support specialist, Gen-C, will launch its latest oil condition monitoring sensors at Energy Now 2020 (East of England Arena, 3rd-4th March).

Providing a 24/7, real-time analysis of the quality of gas engine oil, the sensors detect any contamination including fuel, water or metal and provide a snapshot of the overall health of an engine – often the most expensive piece of equipment on an AD plant.
Increase uptime
“Knowledge is power – the more information you have at your disposal regarding the running of your gas engine, the better you can manage its performance,” says James Thompson, managing director of Gen-C. “Oil quality is an often-overlooked area that can have a detrimental effect on an engine’s overall running. Our oil condition monitoring sensors can help operators plan scheduled maintenance at a time that coincides with an oil change, thereby increasing uptime, as well as protecting the engine by detecting any contamination issues as soon as they occur. They also help operators avoid over-ordering engine oil, keeping costs down.”
Superior engine upgrades
As well as being available as a standalone product, Gen-C’s oil monitoring sensors now come as standard with all engine upgrades. “If your engine is stalling, failing, struggling to restart or delivering a reduced gas output, upgrading it will ensure it runs reliably and smoothly for years to come,” explains James. “Downtime will be reduced, electrical output and income will increase, your engine will emit fewer emissions and be easier to start.”
Gen-C’s engine upgrade service includes the latest ignition system, fuel mixer, throttle, detonation control, HT leads and spark plugs – as well as oil condition monitoring sensors – and comes with an open access control panel, enabling operators to take full remote control of their engine 24/7.
Meet the MD of Motortech
As the exclusive UK distributor for Motortech, Gen-C can supply the full range of parts and systems for all major gas engines, holding over £150,000-worth of stock at its UK headquarters and dispatching 90% of orders the same day. The Manging Director of Motortech, Markus Kruse, will be available on the Gen-C stand to discuss with Energy Now visitors how the Motortech range of parts and systems can increase gas engine lifespan and reduce TCO.
Cut-price servicing
“Whether you’re looking for high-quality OEM spare parts for your existing engine, to upgrade your tired machine or unlock your control panel, or to assess the condition of your oil, we’d be delighted to welcome you to our stand,” says James. “And to celebrate the launch of our brand-new service centre, visitors can also request a quote for our ad-hoc engine servicing offering – including installation of a new, smart control panel – which we guarantee will save AD operators thousands compared to lengthy, tied-in contracts. Bring us your engine model details and running hours and find out how much you could save.”
