Cleaning In Place pumps for heat exchangers
29 April 2022
KAMCO HAS a range of CIP chemical cleaning pumps for cleaning plate and shell and tube heat exchangers, compressors and cooling waterways without the need to strip them.
Process and maintenance engineers are often faced with the urgent need to remove scale and debris from the waterways of process equipment to restore efficiency, or just to keep production going.
Savings of time and labour can be significant. Stripping and cleaning a plate heat exchanger can take a week and involve the need to replace expensive gaskets, whereas cleaning in place can be done with a Scalebreaker pump in less than one day, with no need for dis-assembly.
Descaling the cooler of a large air compressor typically meant that it was out of service for a week. A chemical clean with a C40 Scalebreaker pump and chemicals reduced the time offline to just four hours, a huge saving in time and expenditure.
Scalebreaker pumps have been designed for simplicity in use by maintenance staff, although support and guidance from Kamco is available with every pump, and guidance notes are available for most applications.
Pumps can handle strong acids, alkalis and detergents, and are built for a long, maintenance free life. The safety aspect of chemical cleaning is improved as during use chemicals are contained in the hoses and tank, keeping operators away from fumes and splashes. Pumps incorporate a unique flow reversing device which enables the direction of circulation to be instantly reversed, giving quicker and more effective descaling and flushing.
All units are designed for portability having integral 200mm wheels, although even the largest model, the C210 with 125 litre tank, can be lifted by one man.
