Hygienic connection box range
29 September 2018
Flexible conduit system manufacturer, Flexicon, has launched a new range of stainless-steel connection boxes, for applications requiring high levels of hygiene and ingress protection.

Available as standard with either two or four M20 entries, the stainless-steel, Grade 316L box offers an ideal solution for the interconnection of circuits in hygienic applications, including food processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, electronics and other sterile environments.
Offering high ingress protection, with IP66, IP67, IP68 and IP69 performance, the boxes are said to provide superior reliability in areas requiring frequent wash down routines, where connections will be subject to extended wet and/or damp conditions.
The stainless-steel construction offers enhanced corrosion resistance and has been hygienically designed to prevent the buildup of micro-organisms and bacteria using the principles of BS EN 1672-2 and EN ISO 14159.
Junction boxes form an integral part of a circuit protection system and Flexicon has designed its new, round boxes to be as secure and easy to install as possible, with fixing holes provided for easier mounting. Consisting of a base and lid construction, with blue, high-visibility polyester elastomer seals, the design provides quick access to cabling routed through connecting conduits. Slots in the lid also allow for secure tightening and, aid opening during maintenance to reduce downtime.
The base features two pre-drilled mounting holes to provide a simple option for fixing terminals or DIN rail within the box and, blanking plus can be used to seal off any unused ways.
When used with Flexicon’s short thread fitting and flexible conduit, the box provides maximum available wiring space. There is a choice of seven different hygienic conduits depending on the environment or potential hazards that the cabling could be exposed to.
The connection box can also be used to connect and interface with cable glands, to offer flexibility for the installation.
