Honeytop Speciality Foods, manufacturer of various flatbreads asked Astec Conveyors to design and manufacture a conveying system to integrate packaging equipment, taking discharged product from flow wrappers in the production hall to the warehouse.

The four flow wrapping machines were in a restricted passageway between two parallel RG Luma Automation lines picking and stacking crumpets prior to wrapping.

Astec overcame integration difficulties by having the outer machine guarding on the robot line modified to create a passage through for transporting product away.

A bespoke stainless steel conveying system and controls were designed in-house and automatically allow conveyor speeds to change to suit production. Discharged wrapped product passes down a chute, through the machine, along a series of low and overhead food quality modular plastic belt and slat bends to the warehouse, checkweighed and hand palletised.

The project was completed on time and to budget.
