Demag Cranes & Components
has launched a new training
course for users of lifting
equipment and those involved in the
repair and maintenance of such
plant. 'Safe Use of Lifting Tackle and
Operation of Overhead Gantry
Cranes' is designed to improve safety
and help employers meet obligations
under workplace legislation.
The one-day training course is held at customers' premises, to help operators gain familiarity with the equipment they use on a day-to-day basis. Alternatively, the course may be undertaken at Demag's training facility. Theory modules include lifting equipment assessments, pre and post operation checks, identification of control devices and their features, lift planning and operation, safe load slinging and shut down procedures.
Practical elements include equipment demonstrations, pre-operation checks, lift planning and the prevention and correction of load swing. The course ends with assessment of a trainee's performance and certification of the training programme.
