New from Campbell Associates, the
Norsonic 848 Acoustic Camera is
designed to to easily visualise sound.
The system uses an array of 225 microphones to provide high resolution of the noise climate being analysed.
Quick and easy to set up and use without training or experience, the system features a wide angle, highperformance video camera.
Overall, 1/1-octave, 1/3-octave and FFT can be measured for detailed analysis. There are selectable upper and lower frequency limits, while colour intensity plots can be based on level or frequency. A 'virtual microphone' makes it possible to listen to any part of the image in isolation.
Analogue to digital conversion electronics are hidden in the microphone antenna, instead of a signal analysis interface box, and there is a LAN-cable connection between the microphone array and the supplied MacBook Pro computer. The user friendly software has all required functions for overall and detailed analysis of complex noise situations.
Applications include sound source identification, acoustic leaks and product design.
