Aquasolv Ultrasonic Cleaner-Plus (Aqua 22) from Mykal is providing a leading aerospace company with a degreasing solution that replaces Trike and reduces VOC emissions.

During maintenance, various aircraft components need coatings of lubricants to be removed as a preclean prior to disassembly. For health and safety reasons, the company was looking to replace Trike and significantly reduce VOC emission levels. This led it to look at ultrasonic units along with a suitable degreaser that would provide the cleaning performance required.

Due to the heavy duty nature of the lubricants Mykal suggested its Aquasolv Ultrasonic Cleaner-Plus (Aqua 22), a highly concentrated degreaser designed to remove oils, greases, lubricants and other difficult contaminants. In trials the degreaser was used at 5% concentration levels for 5min at 60-70°C before the components were given an ultrasonic hot water rinse and then dried. The trials proved successful in cleaning the components to the required level and removed Trike and VOC emissions from the process.
