Specialised abrasive blasting equipment designed for heritage restoration and other delicate surface treatment work has been launched in the UK by Hodge Clemco.

IBIX special cleaning equipment is designed for use on a wide variety of materials including stone, marble, brick-work, wood, glass, metals and glass-fibre, particularly when they are easy to damage. Pressure can be precisely adjusted from 0.2 to 7 bar to control abrasive material output.

Many different types of media can be used, including calcium carbonate, fine garnet and sodium bicarbonate.

Models are available with 9 and 25L media hoppers in dry-blasting or wet-blasting versions. H2O models allow low-pressure wet- blasting using atomised water mixed with abrasive directly at the nozzle.

This facility is suitable for work on particularly delicate surfaces and is said to minimise dust. The 9L models weigh 12kg; the 25L models 28kg, so they can be used in confined spaces.
