Keeping it fresh

Bradford-based snack foods company Seabrook Crisps recently called on Thorite to help maintain its stringent quality standards.

Keeping crisps fresh and crunchy once they've been packed is achieved by the inclusion of Nitrogen gas in each bag, which prevents oxidation and thus any potential spoilage of the crisps.

When Thorite's engineers were asked to carry out a routine check of the compny's nitrogen production system their calculations pointed to its output being nearly five times less than the capacity that the plant required.

To save costs and increase efficiency, Thorite installed two Parker Maxigas 112 Nitrogen generators, each fitted with a Parker dryer and filtration unit. Seabrooks has said that Thorite provided a "first class installation and back up services that are second to none".
