Cold storage and distribution company, Yearsley Group, has cut £50k+ from the annual energy bill of one of its depots by investing in Starcare, Star Refrigeration's planned, preventative maintenance programme for refrigeration plant operators. The programme aims to ensure optimum long-term performance and reliability, increase energy efficiency and reduce costs.

Star undertook a general plant audit at Yearsley Group's Coleshill distribution centre. Two refrigeration plants, including a bespoke Star LPR system, provide cooling to cold store chambers and a blast freezer at the facility. Following the review a maintenance plan was designed: Yearsley Group's engineers carry out non-critical maintenance and address H&S issues; Starcare focuses on reducing power consumption and improving plant reliability. An annual energy saving of more than £50k has been achieved by adjusting plant operation to reduce power consumption. Audits will now be carried out at other UK sites.
