Pump energy check is on the ball
21 March 2014
Leading beverage can producer, Ball Packaging, recently approached Grundfos Pumps to investigate the replacement of five immersible pumps used to supply hot water to machines on the canning production line, as these were reaching ‘end of life’. Grundfos suggested a pump energy check, which would give a clear picture on what savings could be achieved.

The energy check report showed that cost and energy savings could be gained through replacing the pumps with modern, energy efficient pump solutions. The suggested replacement pumps were from the Grundfos MTRE3 family of multistage, frequency-controlled immersible range. These pumps have a frequency converter integrated with the motor, making them ultra-efficient.
Ball Packaging was so impressed with the results of the energy check and the short return on investment of just 12 months, it decided to change the pumps on a second line as well.
