FR bump cap
17 March 2014
Following the success of its First Base 3 range of bump caps, Scott Safety is extending the range to include the flame retardant First Base 3 FR Bump Cap – offering protection against burn and bump injuries to the head.

Not only does the bump cap protect workers in a variety of head bump-risk occupations, it protects those in environments where hot sparks are generated, such as automated welding or grinding or where workers are exposed to flammable liquids that could burn the head or potentially ignite hair.
Delivering both stability and comfort, the flexible ABS protective shell guards against bumps and lacerations to the head. Scalloping over the ear, its ergonomic design allows improved compatibility with hearing protection and eyewear. The Reduced Peak (55mm) and Micropeak (25mm) options allow for enhanced upwards vision.
The First Base 3 FR cap provides a universal fit to a wide range of head sizes and the sweatband – constructed from a high performance wicking fabric – draws moisture away from the skin improving wearer comfort.
Chris Ellerby, product manager, head, face, eye and hearing PPE at Scott Safety commented: "The First Base 3 FR has been designed in partnership with some of the world’s leading companies to deliver the perfect balance of comfort, protection and user acceptance.
"Our customers suggested the addition of a flame symbol on the sides of the cap to help remove the uncertainty a safety officer faces when looking to see if a worker is wearing the correct protection. This feedback was incorporated into the final product design so now it is clearly visible when a flame retardant cap is being worn. By listening and working closely with our customers, we have ensured that our new product fits their requirements."
