Building on economic recovery
02 July 2014
Portakabin reports that in the last nine months the upturn in UK manufacturing has resulted in a 19% rise in orders from the manufacturing sector for its modular buildings.

Recent projects have included a state-of-the-art research facility for the new International Institute for Nanocomposite Manufacturing at WMG at the University of Warwick and a 3500m² interim office complex for Jaguar Land Rover, where rapid growth prompted the need for high-quality interim office accommodation for the car manufacturer’s sales and design teams.
Derek Carter, chief executive of the Portakabin Group, said, "Manufacturing has a vital role to play in the economic well-being of the UK and we are pleased to be helping other British manufacturers to move quickly as they develop and grow their businesses.”
Modular solutions offer both speed and flexibility for manufacturers needing to respond to the rapidly-changing business environment. Portakabin says it can radically reduce lead times for purpose-designed office accommodation, production control centres and amenity buildings, and reduce disruption to manufacturing plants.
With a modular solution, the construction process is moved off site and into a controlled factory environment. Portakabin adds that the benefits include improved quality, greater certainty of completion on time and on budget (99%), and programme times reduced by up to 50%.
