Metering role

08 July 2014

A traditional diaphragm-style metering pump at a water treatment plant in the US state of Georgia has been replaced with a Verderflex Dura peristaltic metering pump.

The treatment plant uses several wells to provide its residents and industries with fresh water. One such well site used a diaphragm-style reciprocating metering pump to pump lime slurry directly into the well output. Slurry demand is up to 11.4L/min and must be pumped at pressures exceeding 4 bar.

The old pump lost flow and needed frequent checking. According to Verder, the Verderflex Dura peristaltic metering pump does not suffer from abrasive wear and does not lose efficiency over time.

Verder was able to retrofit the existing motor and VSD, saving over a thousand dollars in equipment costs. The plant plans to install further Verderflex Dura Hose Pumps.
