Sound and vibration instrumentation
16 September 2014
Sister companies, AcSoft and GRAS Sound & Vibration UK will be showing high performance sound and vibration instrumentation and sensors aimed at professional engineers in the automotive and aerospace industries.

GRAS UK, a newly formed subsidiary of Denmark-based G.R.A.S Sound and Vibration, will be highlighting its range of acoustic front end products for the precise and reliable measurement and recording of acoustic signals. These include microphones, pre-amplifiers and signal conditioning devices.
Among the products being displayed by AcSoft will be acoustic solutions from Microflown, gfai tech and HEAD acoustics. Its gfai tech Acoustic Camera, for example, has an array of microphones and uses a beam-forming technique to locate the sources of sound and create a visual image superimposed on an optical image taken at the same time. During data acquisition live sources can be seen and time data is recorded and saved for post-processing.
The software is extremely intuitive and noise sources can be identified in seconds. Various microphone arrays are available depending on the application. Ring arrays suit 2D laboratory applications such as for car engines and domestic appliances. Star array is ideal for long distance imaging used for wind turbines and factories while spherical arrays are used in 3D mapping for vehicle interiors and room acoustics.
