Robot picked for tea handling role
08 January 2016
To meet increased demand Clipper Teas has invested in a specially designed system for packing tea bags from the point where they exit the tea bag making machine. Frontline Packaging was chosen to design, manufacture or source all of the elements and recommended inclusion of a Universal Robot from R. A. Rodriguez to load the rectangular tea cartons.

The system has proved so successful that Clipper Teas has now ordered a second system from Frontline, and a collaborative Universal Robot from R. A. Rodriguez will again be responsible for ensuring tea cartons are delivered in the correct orientation to the next stage of the handling process.
Tony Hacker, MD at Frontline Packaging confirmed: “We chose the Universal Robot because it allows safe human/robot collaborative working, making it easier and safer to use in areas with limited space. It also has a simple, intuitive touch-pad control system which allows Clipper Teas to modify and create programmes easily.”
