22 ton motor travels to Malaysia
15 April 2016
Menzel Elektromotoren has constructed a 100% compatible replacement induction motor for a Malaysian power plant and is ensuring its delivery, installation and eventual commissioning on site.

The plant operators turned to Menzel as the motor manufacturer had carried out an earlier urgent order to their satisfaction. Featuring 1300kW rated power, 11,000V voltage and a speed of 372min-¹, the motor is designed for 36t mechanical tensile stress on the shaft.
The 16-pole motor in frame size 900 weighs in at 22,600kg and requires a ladder and platform for the operating staff due to its height of 4.70m. For painting and delivery it had to be dismantled into individual component parts. The customer attended a test run at Menzel's in-house load test field in Berlin, and commissioning will take place on site in Malaysia by Menzel's engineers.
